The local network / internet access is complicated. Based on your comments, I think the reason you are seeing the message you are seeing is because there are no other Windows Vista or Windows 7 machines on your network (or any other machines designed for link local IPv6).

I went to the computer lab and connected off the wireless just fine so i decided to unhook an ethernet plug from one of the lab computers and stick it in mine and disconnect from the wireless and the internet said the same as it did in my room about no internet access.
